Adams Disease: Description and Management with Capsaicin and Heat
نویسنده
چکیده
Background/purpose: This work describes a new skin disease for the first time, Adams disease, and the management of the disease. Methods: Adams disease is caused by chafing and irritations, causes the skin to form rashes or thickening, crack and bleed. The skin is also sensitive to temperature and moisture changes and responds with itching and pain. Other symptoms include a swollen lower leg and a retina tear. Results: Adams disease of the fingers responds to hot water treatments. Capsaicin cream is effective against rashes anywhere on the body and thickening of the palms and soles of the feet. The swollen lower leg responds temporarily to hot water and oral steroids. Conclusion: Adams disease may be an auto-inflammatory disease caused by dysfunctional transient receptor potential cation vanilloid 1 channels. The disease is chronic, has exacerbations and remissions and can be managed with hot water treatments and capsaicin cream.

Skin inflammatory reactions to capsaicin in rheumatoid arthritis patients compared to healthy controls
Objective: Previous studies have examined the role of sensory nerves and neural mediators in symmetrical joint inflammation and autoimmunity in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). In this study, we sought to examine the association between capsaicin skin test and disease activity in RA patients. Materials and Methods: Eighty RA patients (case group) and 20 healthy volunteers were enrolled in this experi...
متن کاملThe Cannabinoid Agonist, Cp 55,940, Prevents Capsaicin-induced Sensitization of Spinal Cord Dorsal Horn Neurons
Low doses of cannabinoids applied intrathecally attenuate capsaicin-evoked heat and mechanical hyperalgesia via CB1 receptors. Although cannabinoids produce antinociception, in part, by attenuating responses of nociceptive neurons in the spinal cord, few studies have examined the effect of cannabinoids on sensitization of spinal neurons. We therefore investigated whether a cannabinoid receptor ...
متن کاملConcentration dependent effect of morphine, aspirin, capsaicin and chili pepper hydro alcoholic extract on thermal and chemical pain model in fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster)
Introduction: Pain research using animal models is related to ethical concerns, so invertebrates and insects have been recommended by researchers. In the present study, the nociceptive and antinociceptive effects of capsaicin, aspirin, morphine and chili extract were examined using fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) as an alternative for rodent pain model. Methods: Stage 3 of larvae and ad...
